The goal of this Ficathon is to write or draw a piece of Harry Potter fanfiction/fanart in response to a fine art piece. This can come in a variety of manners. Participants may choose to use a subject matter from the painting, a theme, a character, an allusion to the painting and/or artist: whatever they deem fit.
For example, if I was given Cellini's marble Ganymede as my designated piece, I might write a slash fic about Snape abducting Harry to a far off place (in the guise of an eagle) and they have lots of bumsex and frolic in pastures.
The Ficathon sign up runs from June 1-15. Participants will recieve their designated art piece by no later than June 30. Most likely, it will be within 7 days (June 21).
If participants truly hate their designated piece, email the moderator and I can see about finding you a different one. I will try to take into account some preferences, but more or less it will be "random" pieces that are chosen for the participant.
Participants have until September 1 to complete either a) a fanfiction piece of no less than 1500 words or b) one fanart image.
Participants will post the fiction or fanart to the Livejournal community by September 1. There will likely be a website, but more on that later. Fics and/or artwork is to be kept exclusively to this list for 10 days, then the authors/artists are free to post anywhere they please.
Participants are allowed to pimp the Ficathon out to the masses. In fact, please do if you are ready, willing and able!
Fics will be beta read. If you cannot find a beta please contact the moderator.
All ratings are accepted, G to NC17.
All pairings are accepted, slash, het, femmeslash. Gen is also welcome.
Squicks are welcome. That said, if a participant submits a fic about Lucius smearing poo on a Marcel Duchamp sculpture and rolling around in his filth, I won't be impressed. (You'll note I didn't really include many Dada pieces...)
If you would like to include multiple art pieces, please contact the moderator to have that arranged.
If you need assitance with the art history of the piece, the moderator will do her best to help. Many of the pieces on the Master List the moderator has studied and if I have not, I will direct you to sites and/or information that may help.
Any questions can be directed to the moderator by email or by Livejournal comment.
